The Cooperative Education Program is designed to assist High School students
with on-site workplace training. The components of cooperative education
include classroom, placement, assessment and evaluation.

If a student has an interest in policing as a career through their school and
Co-Op teachers, they are placed in various units within the Windsor Police
Service and report to work on a daily basis during their semester.
Students learn important lessons and make valuable contacts.

The Values, Influences and Peers (VIP) a program designed for students
at the Grade 6 level was introduced in 1985. It is team taught by an educator
and a police officer with the intent of reinforcing responsible citizenship,
positive social behaviour, and community values.

Each grade six class in the City has an officer assigned to assist in the presentation
of the VIP program to the students. Officers volunteer to participate in the VIP
program and donate the majority of the time necessary to deliver the program over
the school year.

Throughout the school year, several police officers attend grade schools to
speak about their roles as police officers and what their job involves.
Students also receive first hand knowledge of the training involved in their jobs.
It is a rewarding experience for both the officers and the students.
