COMPUTER THIEF CAUGHT ON VIDEO

The Windsor Police Service in conjunction with the University of Windsor Campus Police is investigating the theft of a laptop computer from the University Bookstore located within the Odette Building at 500 Sunset Ave.   On July 17, 2009,  Campus Police Officers attended the bookstore for a report of a stolen laptop computer.  The investigation revealed that the computer had been delivered to the bookstore on July 13, 2009 and was stored in an office to be picked up by the purchaser several days later.  When the purchaser attended to pick up the computer, it was discovered to be missing from the office.  Upon checking the store's video surveillance system, a suspect carrying a black backpack and talking on a cell phone is seen entering the bookstore office on July 13, 2009 at 3:30 p.m. and removing a cardboard box containing the computer.  The suspect walks down the stairs to the basement where he cuts the box open, removes the computer and places it in the backpack.  The suspect is then seen leaving the store carrying the laptop in his back.

Attached are some still photos from the store surveillance system.  Anyone with any information as to the identity of this suspect or circumstances surrounding this theft is asked to call Windsor Police Investigations at 519-255-6700 ext 4830 or Crime Stoppers at 519-258-TIPS (8477).

The suspect is described a male, white, 5'11", medium build, wearing a white sleeveless t-shirt, necklace, white running shoes, a white ball cap on backward, sunglasses, blue shorts, talking on a cell phone and carrying a black backpack.
