Windsor Police have two men in custody after two men were arrested attempting to break into an east end establishment last night. Earlier this week, officers assigned to the WPS Target Base Unit received a Crime Stoppers tip that two men were planning to rob an establishment sometime during the week. As a result of the information received, surveillance was conducted on the two men throughout the week. At 10:20 p.m. last night, officers observed the suspect's vehicle park in a dark area in the 10800 block of Clairview St. Two men wearing hoods exited the vehicle and walked through the parking lot of the property toward the building on the south side of Riverside Dr E. Officers observed that the licence plates on the vehicle were partially obscured as duct tape had been placed over the front and rear plates. The entertainment establishment had closed for the evening. Officers from the Emergency Services Unit were stationed around the building as information had been received that one of the suspects may be in possession of a handgun. Officers observed the suspects trying several doors and looking into windows. At this time, officers emerged and announced themselves to the suspects advising them to not move and that they were under arrest. Both suspects fled on foot in the direction of the vehicle but were stopped and arrested prior to reaching the vehicle. A subsequent search of both suspects revealed that one was carrying a replica handgun and the other was carrying a collapsible baton. Entry to the building was not gained by the suspects. Talal ABDULHAMEID - 27 years of Windsor is facing charges of Attempt Break and Enter and Possession of Break and Enter Instruments.
