Windsor Police have a man in custody after three separate collisions took place early this morning on the city's east side. At 5:22 a.m. police were called to the area of Wyandotte St. E. near Cadillac St. after a witness observed a grey SUV driving erratically eastbound on Wyandotte St. E. The witness observed the grey SUV weaving back and forth crossing all lanes and eventually mounted the south sidewalk, went through a fence and entered a fenced compound belonging to the Ford Motor Co. in the 2900 block of Trenton St. The vehicle struck a fenced gate inside the compound causing heavy front end damage. As a result of this collision, the front licence plate of the vehicle broke free of the bumper and became lodged in the fence. Damage to the property is estimated at $2000. The vehicle reversed, drove through a grass lot and re-entered Wyandotte St E headed eastbound. Several minutes later, at 5:30 a.m., the same vehicle struck and uprooted a large spruce tree located on the front lawn of a residence in the 1200 block of Glidden Ave. The homeowner awoke to the sound of the collision and observed the same grey SUV leaving the scene northbound on Glidden. Damage to the tree is estimated at $3000. At 7:35 a.m. witnesses observed the same SUV driving erratically westbound on Wyandotte St. E at Walker Rd. Just west of Walker Rd., while the vehicle was travelling in the center lane, it crossed the center lane, striking the rear end of an eastbound vehicle on Wyandotte and then hit a second eastbound vehicle (Cadillac) head on. The driver of the SUV struck the windshield. He was transported to hospital with serious injuries including internal injuries, a broken leg and facial lacerations. The driver of the Cadillac was also transported to hospital with minor injuries. Both vehicles were destroyed as a result of the collision.
