WOMAN ROBBED OF PURSE

The Windsor Police Service is investigating after a woman was robbed of her purse by a man riding a bicycle downtown yesterday.  At 5:25 p.m. Wednesday, a woman and her daughter were walking north on Glengarry Ave. just south of Assumption St. on the west sidewalk.  As she was walking, a man riding a bicycle rode up behind her and grabbed the victim's purse as she carried it in her right hand.  The suspect was able to grab the purse and continued riding east on Assumption St. and then south into an alley.

A K9 unit attended the scene but was unable to track the suspect.  The victim was shaken up but otherwise not physically injured.  The purse was a black  "Channel" brand and contained a quantity of cash and the victim's keys.

Anyone with any information regarding the identity of the suspect in this incident is asked to call Windsor Police Investigations at 519-255-6700 ext 4830 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 519-258-TIPS (8477).

The suspect is described as a male, black, 20-30 years old, wearing a black winter hooded  jacket with red and white around the shoulders. The hood was on covering the suspect's facial features.  The suspect was riding an older red mountain bike.
