GRAFFITI SPREE ENDS IN ARRESTS

Windsor Police arrested two young persons after witnesses observed them spray painting numerous buildings in the city's downtown yesterday.  At 6:40 p.m. uniformed officers responded to a report of two young men spray painting several buildings in the 300-500 blocks of Pelissier St.  Witnesses advised that they confronted these males but were met with belligerent responses.  Officers were able to follow a trail of wet paint on several different buildings leading south on Pelissier St.  In total, eight different buildings were "tagged" by the suspects.

Officers located the two males in the alley between Pelissier St. and Ouellette Ave, in the 500 block.  The officers observed one of the suspects spray painting the rear of a building in the alley.  Officers observed black spray paint on the fingers of both suspects.  Both of the suspects were extremely belligerent with the officers and during the arrest, one of the suspects spat on two of the officers.

A 17 year old male is charged with 8 counts of Mischief.  The second suspect, a 16 year old male is also charged with 8 counts of Mischief and 2 counts of Assaulting a Police Officer.  Both suspects were released on  Appearance Notices and will return to court on September 11, 2009 to answer to the charges.
