The Windsor Police Service is investigating a series of aluminum thefts from a business in the city's far west side. Police have been called to to a business in the 600 block of Sprucewood Drive on three separate occasions since August 30, 2009 for reports of extruded aluminum theft from the outside yard of the business. The investigation has revealed that entry to the yard on all three occasions was gained from the rear off Weaver Street (the first street north of Sprucewood). It is believed that that an ATV has been used in all three thefts and the chain link fence surrounding the yard was cut to gain entry. During the last incident which took place overnight on October 12, 2009, a 16 foot car trailer was stolen from the yard and used to haul a large quantity of 18 foot lengths of extruded (shaped) aluminum from the business. Police are requesting that scrap yards in the area be aware of these thefts and notify the Windsor Police Service should they encounter a large quantity of extruded aluminum. Anyone with any information regarding these thefts is asked to call Windsor Police Investigations at 519-255-6700 ext 4830 or Crime Stoppers at 519-258-TIPS (8477). - 30 -
