HOUSE HIT, DRIVER CHARGED

Officers from the Windsor Police Service responded to a report of a vehicle crashing through the front of a residence in the city's east side early Monday morning.  At 4:00 a.m. yesterday, uniformed officers attended a residence in the 9200 block of Esplanade Dr. to find a Chevrolet Suburban with heavy front end damage embedded in the front entrance of the house. Officers also noted that several windows on the front of the house had been damaged.

The investigation revealed that the Suburban had been travelling at a high rate of speed west bound on Ridge Rd. approaching Esplanade and failed to stop for the stop sign at Esplanade which is a T intersection.  The Suburban struck the front end of a parked vehicle then proceeded up on the front lawn of the property and collided with the house causing extensive damage.  Both the driver and passenger were injured in the collision and were transported to Hotel Dieu Hospital for non - life threatening injuries.  Damage sustained to the two vehicles is in excess of $20,000.  Actual monetary damage to the house is unknown at this time but is extensive.

The 25 year old driver, a Windsor man, is facing a charge of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
