DOMESTIC DISPUTE LEADS TO CHARGES

Windsor Police have one man in custody after a domestic dispute turned violent yesterday morning.  At 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday April 7, 2010, uniformed officers responded to a residence in the 1000 bock of Shepherd St for a report of an injured woman who had received several knife wounds.  Upon arrival, officers were met by the 39 year old victim and her sister who advised that the victim had been involved in an argument with her boyfriend at their house in the 1500 block of Lillian Ave and as a result, the boyfriend had grabbed a knife and cut her in several areas including her collar bone, forearm and fingers. The victim also advised officers that the suspect had choked her and threatened to kill her. The victim was able to escape from her apartment and run to her sister's residence where police were called.

Officers received information that the suspect was still at the Lillian address and subsequently attended the residence.  Officers from the Emergency Services Unit summoned the suspect outside the house where he was arrested.  The suspect also had two minor lacerations on his right arm which were later determined to be self inflicted.  Officers entered the apartment subsequent to the arrest and located a knife with an 8" serrated blade covered in blood.

The victim was transported to hospital where she was treated and released for non life threatening injuries.

John ANDREWS - 44 years of Windsor is facing numerous charges including Assault With A Weapon, Uttering Threats To Cause Death, Choking and Breach of Probation.  He will appear in court today to answer to these charges.
