| POLICE SEARCH FOR ROBBERY SUSPECT | ||
The Windsor Police Service is seeking the public's assistance in identifying a suspect after a woman was robbed of her purse in an apartment building on the east side of the city early this morning. At 7:30 this morning, a 49 year old woman was walking down the stairs to the ground floor of her apartment building in the 2600 block of Meadowbrook when she was approached by a man dressed in black clothing and his face covered with a black cloth material. The man pointed a black handgun at the victim and pushed her up against the wall. The suspect grabbed the woman's purse she was carrying and ran out of the door of the building in a southerly direction. The suspect didn't say anything to the victim. The victim was shaken up but not physically injured. The purse contained the victim's identification and a cell phone. A K9 unit followed a track of the suspect but lost it in the area. Investigators believe that this suspect may be responsible for two robberies and two attempts that have occurred in the area in the last 11 days. The description of the suspect is similar in all four occurrences. The previous incidents are listed as follows: April 10, 2010 - 1:44 a.m. Drive Thru Window of the Burger King at 7955 Tecumseh Rd E. robbed of a quantity of cash. April 11, 2010 - 2:29 a.m. Drive Thru Window of Wendy's at 7605 Tecumseh Rd E. - attempt only. April 20, 2010 - 5:48 a.m. 2611 Meadowbrook. Suspect seen in the parking lot carrying a handgun. Victim driving his vehicle observed the suspect point the gun at him. Victim drove away - attempt only. The suspect is described as a white male, 6', medium build wearing dark clothing. He wears a dark or camouflaged fishing hat and covers his face with black material.
