FIVE CHARGED IN BEATING OF INMATE

Windsor Police have charged five men - all currently inmates at the Windsor Jail in the beating of another inmate late last month.  At 3:40 p.m. on Jan 30, 2010, a 28 year old prisoner was transported to the Windsor Jail as a result of a surety removal.  Upon arrival at the jail, the prisoner was placed in a common area with a number of other inmates.  The 28 year old man (victim) was immediately confronted by another inmate and the two began to physically fight.  As the fight progressed, a second inmate joined in and the victim was knocked to the ground.  While the victim was on the ground, three other inmates jumped into the fray and began to kick and punch the victim to the point where the victim went unconscious.  Corrections officers came to the aid of the victim and separated the assailants from him.  The victim was transported to hospital by ambulance where he currently remains in serious condition.  The assault was captured on surveillance video at the jail.

Five men currently incarcerated at the Windsor Jail are each facing one count of Aggravated Assault. The five accused are:

Shane HUARD - 28 years of Windsor

Joseph BONNEAU - 37 years of Windsor

Demetrius PORTER -22 years of Windsor

Wesley PAUL -29 years of Windsor

Sihat JAHANGARI - 23 years of Windsor
