| ROBBERY SUSPECTS CHARGED | ||
The Windsor Police Service has four men in custody they believe are responsible for several robberies which occurred earlier this week. During the early morning hours of Tuesday, Feb 23, 2010, two robberies were committed in different locations of the city where in both cases, the lone male victims were viciously assaulted and their cell phones stolen. During the early morning hours of Thursday, Feb 25, 2010, two more robberies were committed also in separate locations where the victims were threatened with a handgun and a knife respectively before being relieved of a quantity of cash and a credit card. Based on information received, WPS officers were able to identify a vehicle used by the suspects in the robberies. At 11:45 p.m. last night (Thursday), surveillance officers observed the suspect vehicle travelling southbound on Matchette Rd. from Prince Rd. in the city's west end. Officers observed several men inside the vehicle as they followed it into the town of LaSalle. LaSalle Police Service was notified and the vehicle was stopped by uniformed officers from the LaSalle PS on Matchette Rd. at Kenwood Blvd. Plainclothes officers from the WPS arrested five suspects inside the vehicle in "high risk" fashion. Windsor Police are asking anyone from the public who may have any information regarding these robberies to call Windsor Police Investigations at 519-255-6700 ext 4830 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 519-258-TIPS. (8477). The following four suspects are charged with robbery at this time with more related charges to follow. They will be remanded into custody pending a future court appearance. Milad HOURANI - 19 years of 733 Pelissier St. in Windsor Mohamed KHANI - 18 years of 809 Erie St E. in Windsor Ali FAIDH - 21 years of 805 Niagara St. in Windsor Wassim ATLLAH - 19 years of 1061 Pierre St. in Windsor. One of the suspects arrested was released with no charges. The investigation is continuing and there is a possibility that more arrests will be made. - 30 - |
