TWO SUSPECTS SOUGHT IN ROBBERY

Windsor police are searching for two suspects after a robbery at a west end home last night.  At 10:45 p.m. on Tuesday February 23, 2010, uniformed officers responded to a residence in the 600 block of Josephine Ave. for a report of an assault in progress.  Upon arrival at the house, officers found a 44 year old woman and her daughter, a 22 year old woman both suffering from facial injuries including bloody noses.  The women advised officers that they had been in their house watching TV when they heard a knock at the front door.  The daughter opened the door and two men wearing hoodies entered the residence. One of the suspects brandished a black handled butcher knife with a 10" blade, held it to the throat of the daughter and demanded that the mother hand over her purse.  The mother immediately lunged at the suspect holding the knife in an attempt to intervene.  The mother managed to separate the knife from the suspect but the suspect began punching the mother repeatedly in the face knocking her unconscious for a brief moment.  The second suspect who was also in the house grabbed the daughter and began punching her all the while threatening to cut both women if they didn't hand over the purse.

One of the suspects located the purse and fled out the front door. The daughter was able to grab the purse handles as the suspect fled and she was dragged off the front porch and down the front steps before letting go.  A male neighbour heard the screams of the women and ran to their assistance. He chased one of the suspects north on Josephine but lost him in the Wyandotte St area. As the neighbour made his way back to the victim's house, he encountered the other suspect and confronted him.  The suspect brandished a knife and threatened to stab the neighbour. The neighbour backed off and the second suspect also fled north on foot.

Both women were transported to Hotel Dieu Hospital where they were treated and released for non-life threatening facial injuries.  The suspects managed to make off with the mother's purse containing identification, credit cards, a quantity of cash and also a quantity of oxycontin tablets.
