| WOMAN STRUCK WITH BOTTLE-ROBBED OF WALLET | ||
Windsor Police are investigating after a woman was robbed of her wallet while exiting the vestibule of an automated teller machine last night. At 7:40 p.m. on Wednesday, uniformed police officers responded to a banking institution located in the 1600 block of Tecumseh Rd. E. for a report of a robbery that had just occurred. Upon arrival, officers were met by a 37 year old woman at the rear of the bank near the exit of the ATM vestibule. The woman was visibly shaken and had sustained a contusion to the left side of her head. The complainant advised officers that she had driven into the rear parking lot of the bank from the entrance on Windermere Rd. and pulled into a parking spot. As she was driving through the lot, she observed a woman walking through the parking lot wearing a grey hoodie zipped up covering her head. The complainant exited her vehicle and entered the bank to use the ATM. Upon completing her transaction, the complainant exited the vestibule leading to the rear lot. As she walked out the door, she was struck on the left side of her head with a beer bottle which shattered. She then observed the same woman she had seen earlier grab the wallet the victim was holding and flee on foot eastbound in the parking lot toward Windermere Rd. The complainant was taken to Met hospital where she was treated and released for the contusion on her head. Police received a phone call a short time later from a citizen who had found the victim's wallet on the ground in the 1700 block of Lincoln Rd. Upon the return of the wallet to the victim, she advised officers that a quantity of cash had been stolen from the wallet but all her identification and credit cards were still contained in the recovered wallet. Anyone with any information regarding this robbery is asked to call Windsor Police Investigations at 519-255-6700 ext 4830 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 519-258-TIPS (8477). The suspect responsible for this robbery is described as a female, 5'10", with a slim build, wearing a grey hoodie sweat shirt zipped up covering her head, grey sweat pants and white running shoes. Age and race are unknown at this time. - 30 - |
