Windsor Police have a man in custody after a 14 year old girl complained of being touched in a sexual manner at a west side grocery store yesterday afternoon.  At 4:30 p.m. on January 4, 2010, uniformed officers attended the store in the 700 block of Crawford Ave. after a woman advised the manager of the store that a man had grabbed her daughter's buttocks.

The investigation revealed that the girl and her mother had been shopping in the store for approximately 20 minutes when the mother noticed a man seemed to be following them in the areas that they shopped. The man was not pushing a cart nor was he carrying a shopping basket.  At one point, the mother and daughter were in one of the aisle's looking at items on the shelves and the man was standing next to the daughter also looking at items. The man crouched down next to the girl as if to look at something down low on a shelf.  as he crouched down , he reached up with one hand grabbing her buttock and winked at her.  The girl was startled and left the aisle immediately with her mother.  The girl advised her mother what had transpired as soon as they got around the corner and her mother immediately informed the manager of the store of what had occurred. The manager then approached the suspect and detained him while police were called.  Police arrested the suspect without incident.  The 14 year old girl did not sustain any physical injuries.

Daniel Joseph CHAUVIN - 45 years of Windsor is charged with one count of Sexual Assault.
