|
Windsor Police have a man in custody after he threatened to blow up the Enwin Utilities building over a dispute on his billing statement. At 1:45 p.m. yesterday, uniformed police officers responded to the utility building in the 700 block of Ouellette Ave for a threats complaint. The investigation revealed that a man had attended the building earlier in the day to complain about his statement but was not granted entry into the secure building due to the manner in which he was speaking. The man left the building and telephoned Enwin Utilities and spoke to an employee. He began to scream at the employee over the phone demanding to know why he wasn't granted access to the building and complaining about his billing statement. During his rant, he advised the employee that he was "going to come back and blow the place up". Officers received information as to the location of the man's residence and attended to investigate. As officers arrived in the 900 block of Janette Ave, they encountered the man arriving home and placed him under arrest for uttering threats. Due to the seriousness of the threats made by the man, Officers entered his residence concerned for the safety of the public. While inside the residence, officers observed a laptop computer on a table. As a result of some of the website history, officers seized the computer and are currently investigating the nature of the sites. The investigation is ongoing and it is unknown if charges will be laid as a result. A 42 Windsor man will be facing a charge of Uttering Threats Causing Death. He will be released on a Promise To Appear in court at a later date. - 30 -
