POLICE INVESTIGATING PURSE SNATCHING

Windsor Police are investigating a purse snatching in the city's near east side that occurred last night.  At 7:30 p.m. of yesterday's date, uniformed officers attended a residence in the 1500 block of Benjamin and spoke to 65 year old woman who advised them that her purse had been stolen from her 45 minutes earlier while she was walking in the 600 block of  Parent Ave.

The woman indicated that she was walking on the east sidewalk in the 600 block of Parent Ave. when a male suspect came up from behind her and grabbed the purse she was carrying off her shoulder.  The jolt caused the victim to fall to the ground but she was physically uninjured.  The suspect was last seen running north on Parent then disappeared from the victim's view into an alley.  The victim took a cab home and then called police.  The purse only contained a bus schedule but it  had sentimental value to the victim.  The purse is described as being beige in colour and had " GRANDMA'S LITTLE ANGELS" inscribed on it. It also had the names of her four grandchildren inscribed on the outside of the purse as well.

Anyone with any information regarding this incident is asked to call Windsor Police Investigations at 519-255-6700 ext 4830 or Crime Stoppers at 519-258-TIPS (8477).

The suspect is described as a male, race unknown, 5'5", thin build wearing a black hoodie and dark pants.
