DOWNTOWN ASSAULT LEADS TO CHARGES |
||
The Windsor Police Service have a man in custody after an incident took place in the City's downtown core late last night. At 11:30 p.m. yesterday, a uniformed officer on foot patrol came across a disturbance in the area of Ouellette Avenue and Park Street. The officer observed two males engaged in a fight while a crowd gathered around to watch. The officer managed to stop the fight and when back up arrived both males were taken into custody. EMS was requested to tend to one of the male parties who was transported to hospital.
The investigation revealed that one of the males was walking with his girlfriend on Ouellette Avenue and as they turned onto Park Street they were approached by the suspect. Some words were exchanged and the suspect punched the male in the face which provoked the fight. After just a few minutes the fight was broken up by the Windsor Police. Upon interviewing several witnesses it was discovered that the two males may know one another and the altercation was a result of an earlier incident which occurred approximately 6 months ago.
The victim is currently in the hospital with non life threatening injuries. He was released with no charges pending further investigation.
A 41 year old Windsor male is facing a charge of Assault Causing Bodily Harm and will appear in court today.
