SUSPECTS SOUGHT IN ROBBERY

The Windsor Police Service is asking for the public's assistance after a Dickee Dee ice cream salesman was robbed late last night in the City's downtown area.  At 11:40 p.m. July 6, 2010 uniformed officers responded to the area of Wyandotte Street East and Goyeau Street for a report of an assault.  The officers spoke to a man who advised that just minutes earlier he was dealing with customers when he was struck from behind on the right side of his head with an object.  The man then ran to a nearby business to call police while the suspect fled the scene.  When the victim returned to his ice cream cart, he discovered that his change purse that contained a quantity of money as well as his flashlight had been taken.

The victim was transported to hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released.

The suspect is described as a male, black.

Anyone with any information regarding the identity of the suspect in this incident is asked to call Windsor Police Investigations at 519-255-6700 ext 4830 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 519-258-TIPS (8477).
