Windsor Police have a 36 year old woman in custody after a break and enter and violent struggle in the city's west side early Saturday morning. At 5:45 a.m. on Saturday June 19, unformed officers responded to a report of a break and enter to a second floor apartment located in the 500 block of Randolph St. Upon arrival, officers observed a woman walking around on a flat roof of the apartment and also observed an open window and an air conditioning unit still running which had been removed from the window. Officers later learned that the apartment is occupied by the woman's ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend. Officers called out to the woman who ignored them and entered the apartment through the open window. Officers could then hear yelling coming from inside the apartment and forced open the apartment door to check on the well being of the occupants. As officers entered the apartment, they observed the woman now standing in the kitchen holding a pair of scissors. Also standing in the kitchen was the ex-boyfriend of the woman. The woman was in an extremely agitated state and began to attempt to cut herself with the scissors. Officers ordered the woman to drop the scissors but instead she advanced toward the officers swinging the scissors at them. The officers struggled with the woman and eventually were able to disarm her and place her under arrest. She was transported to hospital where she was treated and released for minor injuries. She was released back into Police custody. During the ordeal, the new girlfriend had barricaded herself in the bedroom and was not injured. The boyfriend was also not injured.
