| GROW OP RESULTS IN CHARGES | ||
Windsor Police have a man in custody after discovering a marijuana grow operation in the city's near west side on Monday afternoon. Officers from the Drugs and Guns Unit had received information of a grow operation in the basement of a residence and also the possibility of firearms being present. At 4:00 p.m. Monday June 7, 2010, officers from the Emergency Services and the Drugs and Guns Units entered the residence and executed a search warrant. Officers located over 250 plants in various stages of growth in the basement of the house along with a quantity of loose marijuana packaged in plastic bags. Officers also seized electronic equipment consistent with a marijuana grow operation. A black BB handgun was also seized. Upon entering the house, officers found a lone male inside the residence and subsequently arrested him. The total value of the seized marijuana is estimated at $143,000. Ba Van MAI - 52 years of Windsor is facing one count of Unlawfully Producing Cannabis Marijuana and two counts of Possession of Marijuana For The Purpose of Trafficking. he has been remanded into custody. - 30 - |
