| POLICE INVESTIGATING TWO CONVENIENCE STORE ROBBERIES | ||
Windsor Police are investigating two convenience store robberies that occurred within twenty minutes of each other last night in different areas of the city. The suspect responsible for both robberies was similar in description. At 10:30 p.m. on Monday June 7, 2010, a lone male suspect entered a convenience store in the 1500 block of Tecumseh Rd East. The suspect approached the counter, pointed a black coloured handgun at the clerk and demanded all the money from the cash register. The suspect then went behind the counter, grabbed a quantity of cigarettes from a shelf, and then took a quantity of cash from the till. He then exited the front door of the store. The suspect was a white male, 20-25 years, 5'10", medium build, wearing a light coloured hoodie covering his head and dark pants. He was also wearing a blue surgical mask covering the lower portion of his face. A man walking with his girlfriend across the street observed the suspect flee the store and gave chase on foot into the alley behind the Windsor Chapel Funeral Home. The witness was able to catch up to the suspect and knocked him to the ground briefly, but the suspect immediately got up to his feet and and entered the passenger side door of a black car which was waiting in the alley. The car sped off north bound on Chilver Rd. The vehicle is described a newer model sports car with a spoiler on the back, tinted windows and shiny silver wheels. The vehicle had an unknown Ontario Licence plate attached. At 10:50 p.m. uniformed officers responded to a report of a robbery at a convenience store in the 1600 block of University Ave West. During this occurrence, a lone male suspect close in description to the suspect in the previous robbery entered the store, approached the counter brandishing a black coloured handgun and demanded the money from the store clerk. The clerk opened the register and the suspect reached in grabbing a quantity of cash. The clerk ran out of the store and the suspect followed shortly after. The suspect was last seen running east through the parking lot then south in the alley. No vehicle was seen in this robbery. The suspect in this robbery was a white male, medium build, round face, wearing a light coloured hoodie with the hood up and dark pants. Windsor Police are investigating the possibility that the same suspect(s) was responsible for both robberies.
