| SUSPECT SOUGHT IN PURSE SNATCHING | ||
Windsor Police are investigating after a 77 year old woman was robbed of her purse last night. At 9:50 p.m. Thursday June 17, 2010, uniformed officers responded to the 1400 block of Ouellette Ave for a report of a purse snatching. Officers were met by the elderly complainant who advised that she had attended the convenience store on the south east corner of Ouellette Ave at Ellis St. to purchase lottery tickets. Upon exiting the store she observed a young man standing near the corner of the building. The woman crossed Ouellette Ave walking east on Ellis St. on the south sidewalk. As she approached Dufferin St. the same man she had seen earlier standing outside the store ran up behind her and grabbed the purse from her hand. The suspect ran east on Ellis St. then south on Dufferin before disappearing from the woman's sight into a parking lot. The woman was not injured during the robbery and returned to the store to call police. The stolen purse was made of dark brown leather and contained a quantity of cash, lottery tickets and the woman's identification. Windsor Police are requesting that anyone with any information regarding the suspect call investigators at 519-255-6700 ext 4830 or Crime Stoppers at 519-258-TIPS(8477). The suspect is described as a 17-20 year old male - race unknown, 5'10", slender build, dark short hair and unshaven. He was wearing a white t shirt and dark pants. - 30 - |
