NEIGHBOUR DISPUTE LEADS TO ASSAULT

Windsor Police are searching for three suspects after a neighbour dispute resulted in an assault involving weapons.  At 8:10 p.m. last night, uniformed officers responded to a multi  apartment housing unit in the 200 block of Pratt St. in the city's east side for a report of an assault that had just occurred.  Upon arrival, officers were met by the victim a 20 year old man who had sustained non life threatening facial injuries including a several lacerations to the back of his head and and some chipped teeth.

The victim advised the officers that at 8:00 p.m. he had been watching TV in his front living room when he heard a knock at his apartment door.  Looking outside, he observed his neighbour who resides in the apartment above him.  The victim also advised the officers that he has had an ongoing dispute with this neighbour.  The victim opened the door and was immediately struck in the face with a hammer which caused him to step backward. The victim then advised that three men including his neighbour entered his apartment and began beating him with the hammer. The two other suspects were carrying pieces of wood and struck him several times with them.  The victim was able to grab a frying pan from the kitchen counter and struck one of the assailants in the face with it which caused one of the suspects to begin bleeding.  Immediately after being struck by the frying pan,  the neighbour and the other two  suspects fled the apartment leaving a trail of blood.  Upon arrival at the scene, officers were able to follow the trail of blood to the apartment above the victim's.  Officers entered the suspect's apartment and found drops of blood but the suspects were nowhere to be found.  Another witness observed three men matching the descriptions of the three suspects running south toward Wyandotte St shortly after the assault took place.

The victim was transported to hospital and treated for his non-life threatening injuries.  Police have been able to identify one suspect involved in the assault and are attempting to identify the other two.  All three are currently at large.
