WOMAN TAKES MAN FOR A RIDE ON HOOD OF CAR

Windsor Police are searching for a suspect after a woman attempted to run down her common law husband with his vehicle during a domestic dispute late Saturday afternoon.  At 5:40 p.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2010, uniformed officers responded to a residence in the 900 block of Broadway St. in the city's west end for a report of a domestic argument.  Upon arrival, officers spoke to a man who was suffering from abrasions to his forehead and hands. He was also complaining of pain to his rib cage and was experiencing difficulty in breathing. The man advised that his common law wife had struck him with his own vehicle.

The investigation revealed that the man and his wife had been involved in an ongoing domestic dispute.  The man had returned to his residence earlier in the day from being out and his common law wife was not home.  He then helped his neighbour with some work in the yard for a couple of hours. While in his neighbour's yard, the man observed his common law getting into his car which was parked in his driveway.  The man approached the vehicle to speak with her and as he did so, the woman locked the doors, closed the windows and started the car and wouldn't acknowledge the man.  The man then went to the front of the vehicle and stood in front of the car in an attempt to prevent her from leaving in his vehicle.  The woman then placed the vehicle in gear and drove forward toward the man attempting to strike him.  The man then jumped up onto the hood of the car as it exited the driveway of the residence.  The vehicle then sped off east on Broadway toward Matchette Rd with the man clinging to the hood of the car as the woman made several manouvres including stopping, swerving and reversing in an attempt to throw the man from the hood of the vehicle. As the vehicle approached Matchette Rd., the man lost his grip and fell from the vehicle and onto the road. The vehicle then struck a Union Gas marker pole on the side of the road and sped away from the scene on Matchette Rd. The victim was transported to hospital where he was treated for the above noted injuries.

The suspect is still at large and Investigators are asking that anyone with any knowledge of the whereabouts of the suspect or the vehicle involved in this incident to call Windsor Police Investigations at 519-255-6700 ext 4315 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 519-258-TIPS (8477).
