HIT AND RUN DRIVER SOUGHT

Windsor Police are searching for the driver of a white van after a pedestrian was struck in the parking lot of an east side restaurant last Friday night.  At 6:50 p.m. on Friday November 26, 2010, uniformed patrol officers responded to the rear parking lot of Dirty Jerseys Sports Grill at 6675 Tecumseh Rd E. for a report of an injured woman laying on the ground.

Officers arrived on scene to find paramedics treating the woman. They were able to speak with the woman who was conscious and also a witness who was driving through the parking lot and observed her laying on the ground.  The woman advised officers that she had been walking through the rear of the parking lot when she was struck by a white full size van causing her to fall to the ground.  The driver of the van left the scene of the collision without providing any assistance or information to the victim. The victim was unable to provide any further description of the vehicle or its last direction of travel. Officers were unable to locate any witnesses who may have observed the van strike the woman.

The woman was transported to hospital by ambulance where she underwent surgery for non-life threatening injuries.  The only description of the suspect vehicle is that it is a full sized van, white in colour.

Anyone with any information regarding the suspect vehicle, its driver, or anyone who may have been in the area of Dirty Jersey's at 6:50 p.m. and witnessed the collision is asked to call the Windsor Police Traffic Branch at 519-255-6700 ext 4211 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 519-258-TIPS (8477).
