POLICE SEEK IDENTITY OF HIT AND RUN DRIVER

Windsor Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that failed to stop for a stop sign and struck another vehicle before fleeing the accident scene on the city's east side two days ago.  In the afternoon of  Wednesday November 24, 2010,  uniformed patrol officers responded to the intersection of Wyandotte St. E. at Ford Blvd for a report of a "Hit and Run" motor vehicle accident.

Officers spoke to the female driver of a 2000 Dodge Neon who advised that at 4:50 p.m. she had been driving westbound on Wyandotte St E in the center lane.  As she approached the intersection of Ford Blvd., she observed a black vehicle travelling north on Ford Blvd. approaching Wyandotte St.  The black vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign an entered the intersection striking the front end of the Neon causing approximately $7000 damage.  After the collision, the male driver of the black vehicle got out of the car to check on the well being of the Neon's driver.  He then advised her that he was going to pull his car ahead onto Ford Blvd. to wait for police.  The suspect then got into the black car and sped off northbound on Ford Blvd. toward Riverside Dr.  The driver of the Neon was not able to obtain a licence plate of the suspect vehicle but described it as an older model, black vehicle with four doors - possibly a Ford Taurus or similar make and model.  The vehicle will have moderate to heavy damage to the front passenger side.

The suspect driver is described as a white male, approximately 18 years old, 5'8", medium build, blue eyes, clean shaven and wearing a white puffy winter jacket with fur around the collar.

The 44 year old female driver of the Neon and her 4 year old daughter were shaken but not injured as a result of the collision.

Police are asking that anyone with any information regarding the suspect vehicle or any auto body collision shops who may have encountered this vehicle to contact the Windsor Police Traffic Unit at 519-255-6700 ext 4211 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 519-258-TIPS (8477).
