SUSPECT IN TWO ROBBERIES SOUGHT BY POLICE

The Windsor Police Service is seeking the assistance of the public in identifying a suspect who robbed the same east side convenience store twice over a three day period.  On Friday November 12, 2010 at 8:15 p.m. uniformed officers responded to a convenience store in the 6500 block of Wyandotte St E. for a report of a robbery that had just occurred.  Officers were advised by the clerk that a suspect had entered the store wearing a blue baggy jacket and a grey toque covering his face. The clerk advised that the suspect kept his left hand in his pocket and it appeared that he was holding something in his pocket intended to be a weapon. No weapon was actually seen.  The suspect demanded money from the cash register and the clerk complied.  The suspect then exited the store with a quantity of cash and was last seen running south bound on St. Mary's Blvd.  The suspect was captured on surveillance video. The clerk was not injured.

On Sunday November 19, 2010, at 9:20 p.m. uniformed officers responded to the same store for a robbery that had just occurred.  Upon arrival, the clerk advised that a suspect similar in description to the Friday robbery had approached the counter wearing a dark jacket and black ski mask covering his face again with his left hand in the jacket pocket apparently holding a weapon.  The suspect demanded the money from the cash register and then ran out the door carrying a quantity of cash. This clerk - different from the first robbery was also not injured.  The suspect was again captured on surveillance video last seen running south on St Mary's Blvd.  A WPS K9 unit located a black ski mask on the front lawn of a residence in the 800 block of St. Mary's Blvd.

Investigators strongly believe that the same suspect is responsible for both robberies.  Ten minutes prior to committing the second robbery, the suspect is captured on the store surveillance video entering the store unmasked and conversing with the store clerk before leaving without purchasing anything.  On the surveillance videos of both robberies, the suspect appears to be wearing the same pants and shoes.  The suspect's gait is also identical in both videos.

The suspect is described as a white male, 6', medium to large build, wearing a dark jacket with a reflective insignia on the left breast, black athletic pants with stripes down the legs and shiny dress shoes.

A CD of the store surveillance video displaying the clear facial image of the suspect inside the store prior to Sunday's robbery is available to be picked up from the officer at the main counter at Windsor Police Headquarters. Windsor Police are asking anyone who may have any information as to the identity of the suspect to contact Windsor Police Investigations at 519-255-6700 ext 4830 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 519-258-TIPS (8477).
