| SUSPECT ON VIDEO CHARGED IN THEFT | ||
| Windsor Police have charged a suspect with theft after he
was captured on a surveillance video stealing a woman's purse. On
October 24, 2010, a woman reported that her purse was stolen from
an office at the Comfort Suites located at 500 Tuscarora St. The
surveillance video was released to the media requesting the assistance
of the public in identifying the suspect. On Sunday November 7, 2010, an alert Special Constable working in the cell area at Windsor Police HQ reviewed the surveillance video and immediately recognized the suspect depicted in the video. He identified the suspect as a man who was currently in custody in the WPS detention unit after being arrested earlier in the day on an outstanding arrest warrant for an unrelated theft charge. The Special Constable notified investigators who attended the detention area and confirmed that the suspect in custody to be the same as the one captured on video.
