| TRUCK INPSECTIONS LEAD TO CHARGES | ||
| On Wednesday November 3, 2010 the Windsor Police
Traffic Unit in conjunction with the Ministry of Transportation of
Ontario conducted an inspection blitz targeting heavy commercial
vehicles. Officers from both agencies conducted inspections of 40
commercial vehicles between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. in the area of
Ojibway Parkway and Sprucewood Rd. in the City of Windsor. As a result of those inspections, 21 vehicles - over half of those examined were pulled off the road at the scene for various safety violations. In total, 42 charges were laid against the operators of the vehicles inspected. This is the third "Joint Forces Operation" conducted this year by the M.T.O. and the Windsor Police Service targeting heavy commercial vehicle inspections. The previous two blitzes took place during the month of July of 2010. Both agencies are committed to maintaining a safe environment for all motorists utilizing Ontario's highways. - 30 - |
