POLICE INVESTIGATE FATAL COLLISION

The Windsor Police Service is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision in the city's east side early this morning.  At 2:30 a.m. on today's date, uniformed officers along with other emergency services personnel responded to the area of Quality Way just west of Lauzon Parkway to find a 1997 Chrysler Concorde at rest on its roof just off the roadway.  The driver of the vehicle, a 45 year old male was found inside the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was the lone occupant of the vehicle. The entire vehicle had sustained extensive damage.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that the vehicle had been travelling eastbound on Quality Way approaching a curve in the road just prior to reaching Lauzon Parkway.  The vehicle was travelling at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate the curve causing the vehicle to leave the roadway.  After leaving the roadway, the vehicle flipped over coming to rest on its roof.

At the time of the accident,  the roads were dry and visibility was good.  It is unknown at this time if alcohol was a factor in the collision.

The name of the deceased is not being released pending the notification of next of kin.
