POLICE SEEK IDENTITY OF DOG OWNER

The Windsor Police Service is requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the owner of a dog involved in a collision with a bicycle at the Ford Test Track in the City of Windsor.  At 5:00 p.m. on August 9, 2010, a 57 year old woman was riding her Carbon Fibre racing bicycle on the track located between Seminole St. and Milloy St.  Also present at the Test Track was a woman and a young girl who were walking two small dogs on leashes.  At some point, the woman let the dogs off the leashes and one of the dogs ran into the path of the cyclist causing her strike the dog and tumble off the bicycle.  The cyclist was training for a triathalon and was travelling at a fast pace.

The cyclist struck the ground with such force that her bicycle helmet cracked. As a result of the collision, she was rendered unconscious. She suffered severe injuries including a concussion, broken ribs, contusions to her arms and legs, and a displaced vertebrae in her neck.  The cyclist was transported to hospital and treated for her injuries.  The victim's bicycle was also heavily damaged.

The woman who owned the dogs along with another man assisted the cyclist until paramedics arrived.  The dog owner then left the area in a smaller white four door vehicle.  The vehicle had a "N.O.S" decal displayed above the gas cap.

The dog owner is described as a white female, mid fifties, dyed red shoulder length hair, 5'3", medium build.  The woman's first name may possibly be "Renee". She was in the company of a 7 year old female - possibly her granddaughter.  The dog is described as a smaller white poodle/collie mix.

Anyone with any information as to the identity of the dog owner is asked to call Windsor Police Investigations at 519-255-6700 ext # 4323 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 519-258-TIPS (8477).
