The Windsor Police Service has received a number of inquiries about an alleged incident, that occurred at a local mall. These same stories, have been passed along to other areas, the only difference, being the location. The latest story, is about a well dressed man, who helps a young woman change her tire at a local mall. He places his brief case in her car while he changes the tire. He then asks her for a ride to his car, but the woman is uneasy and goes back into the mall and reports this to security. When she returns to her car, the man is gone and the briefcase is left in the car. The briefcase is opened and it contains rope, duct tape and a knife. She later determines her tire, was deliberately flattened. This story, and similar stories, seem to appear around the Christmas Holidays, when the malls and shopping areas are most busy. Stories like this, sometimes appear by email, or are passed around by word of mouth, causing concern, among our citizens. The Windsor Police Service, has not received any report, of such an occurrence. We encourage everyone to be mindful of their surroundings, and take the standard precautions when shopping, or out in public areas. Enjoy the holiday season. Stay Safe and be Alert. -30- |
