Dangerous Driving |

A twenty two year old Michigan man, was arrested after an episode of dangerous driving ,in the downtown area, early Saturday morning. At 3:00 a.m., a police cruiser, was traveling east on Pitt Street from Ferry Street. The officers spotted a fast traveling Jeep, westbound on Pitt Street from Ouellette Avenue. Pitt Street is a one-way street, for eastbound traffic only. A police wagon was parked on Pitt Street near Ferry Street. Both police units activated their roof lights, and sirens, attempting to alarm the Jeep, he was heading into oncoming traffic. The Jeep continued on it way and drove between the cruiser and wagon, accelerating as it past the police units. The police cruiser turned around and followed the vehicle northbound unto Ferry Street. Officers observed it travel through the red traffic signal, on Riverside Drive at Ferry Street. The downtown area was busy with pedestrian traffic at the time. The Jeep then headed west on Riverside Drive, in the eastbound lane. It jumped the curb near the Cleary International Center and continued, going over another curb and coming to a stop between the Cleary and Hilton Hotel. The driver refused to exit the vehicle and had to be forcibly removed. The suspect struggled and kicked at the officers, until he was eventually brought under control. Bradley Callahan, 22, of Clarkston, Michigan, was released on Bail. He is scheduled to appear in court, on November 24th. He is facing charges of Dangerous Driving and Resist Arrest.
