Grow Houses Discovered

 

Four people are in police custody after Drug Enforcement officers shut down a series of Marihuana Grow Houses, yesterday.  About 7:00 p.m., Tuesday evening, Drug Enforcement officers were observing a home in the 1800 block of Balfour Blvd.  Four people were seen loading a van, with what appeared to be Marihuana plants.  The van left the area and was stopped by police on Tecumseh Road.  A search of the vehicle, found 59 Marihuana plants.  The two occupants of the vehicle were arrested.  Two others were arrested a short time later.

This investigation led officers to execute search warrants, to four city homes, yesterday.  Officers found grow houses at all four locations.  Officers searched the home in the 1800 block of Balfour and found 21 marihuana plants, hydroponic lighting and exhaust fans.  A search of a home in the 2400 block of Meldrum Road, found 192 marihuana plants, along with growing equipment.  The search of a home in the 1200 block of Hickory Road, revealed  65 marihuana plants, along with grow equipment, and a home in the 600 block of Brazil, contained 55 marihuana plants and associated growing equipment.

The estimated street value of total amount of marihuana is $1,097,480.

Jing Li, 25, Shiguang Zheng, 23, Fan Jiang 22, of Windsor, and Wwei Kee Chen, 31, of Markham, are facing four counts of Trafficking and four counts of Production of Marihuana.
