September Crime Statistics

 

Monthly crime statistics for September, indicate that Crimes Against Persons were down ten percent compared to last year.  There were 215 reported occurrences, compared to 241 last September.  Family related assaults were down from 37 to 27, Non -family related assaults from 101 to 78 and Assaults on Police Officers dropped, from 15 to 10.  There were 13 robberies last month which is the same amount of robberies for September of 2002.

Property crimes increased to 1286 reported occurrences compared to 1062 last year.  Arson occurrences increased to 9 from 5, Break and Enter offences to 156 from 111 and Motor Vehicle Thefts and Attempts to 106 from 70.  Fraud offences dropped to 57 from 78 occurrences, while Mischief offences increased to 237 from 219.

Motor Vehicle Collisions dropped from 637 to 605 for the month of September.  Last month there were 23 drivers charged with Impaired Driving, 68 Charges of Careless Driving and 46 charges of Drive While Suspended.  The Huron Line Enforcement Detail issued 136 traffic tickets last month.  Of those there were 59 for speeding, 12 traffic signal violations and 65 miscellaneous other violations.
