|
A hamburger wrapper, left behind by a auto theft suspect, led to his eventual capture. At 7:00 a.m., yesterday morning, a woman who lives in the 1800 block of College Avenue, heard the sound of breaking glass. She went outside and noticed the window of her car had been broken and a man was seated inside her vehicle. She approached the car and the suspect held a crow bar up in a threatening manner. She ran back inside and called police. When officers arrived at the scene, the suspect was gone. The suspect had made an unsuccessful attempt to steal the vehicle. Officers found a hamburger wrapper inside the car and attended a nearby location that sold hamburgers bearing the same wrapper. A store video camera showed the suspect making a hamburger purchase, prior to the incident on College Avenue. A few hours later, an officer spotted the suspect walking on College Avenue . He was arrested without incident. James Marshall Westlake, 20 years old, of Windsor, is in police custody. He will appear in court today, facing charges of: Attempt Theft, Mischief, Threats and Breach of Undertaking.
