Police Service Dog Max, earned the title, Top Police Dog in the Province, at the Provincial Police Dog Trials, held in Etobicoke this past weekend. Max and his handler, Sergeant Mike Ducharme, beat out twenty other police dogs, to earn the Lydia Sullivan Trophy, for their first place finish. During the trials, the police service dogs are tested for Obedience, Article Searches, Box Searches, Agility and Apprehension. The other Windsor Police Dogs also had a respectable showing. Police Dog Beezel, handled by Constable John Virban, placed 4th overall and earned 1st in Apprehension, 2nd in Obedience and 3rd in the Team event. Police Dog Harry, handled by Constable Colleen Preussel, earned a 2nd place in the Box Search, 2nd in the Team event and 5th place in Apprehension. The newest member of the Police Dog Unit, Sergeant Gaston Levesque and Police Dog Jake, placed 3rd overall in the Novice Category.
