August Crime Statistics

 

Crimes Against Persons increased eleven per cent compared to August of last year.  There were 250 reported occurrences compared to 225 last year.  Non- Family related Assaults increased from 85 to 100 occurrences, while Assaults Against Police Officers dropped from 11 to 8 occurrences.  There were 24 Robberies and Attempts last month compared to 18 last August.  

Crimes Against Property increased to 1494 reported occurrences compared to 1221 for August of last year.  Break and Enter and Attempts increased from 124 to 206 occurrences while Fraud Offences dropped from 66 to 47 occurrences.  Mischief offences rose from 245 to 286 reported occurrences.

Motor Vehicle Collisions dropped from 594 to 527 last month.  In August there were 21 persons charged with Impaired Driving, 54 Drive While Suspended and 60 Charges of Careless Driving.  There were 146 traffic tickets handed out in the Huron Line Enforcement detail.  Of those, 68 were for speeding, 23 for Traffic Signal Violations and 55 for various other violations.
