Robbery Suspect Arrested

A variety store located in the 3500 block of Peter Street was robbed last night.  At 9:30 p.m., the store owner was in the process of cleaning one of the refrigerators, when he was attacked from behind.  He was repeatedly punched on the head and the suspect demanded cigarettes.  The suspect filled a bag full of cigarettes and then left the store.  The victim suffered non life threatening injuries.  He did not require medical treatment.

Police arrested a suspect a short time later in the 3400 block of Sandwich Street.  Victor Alford, 40, of Windsor, will appear in court today, facing charges of Robbery and Resist Arrest.
