Car Theft Leads To Arrest

 

A brand new Cadillac stolen from a shipping yard this morning was recovered after leading police on a pursuit in the cities west end.  At 3:00 a.m., an employee of a new vehicle shipping yard located in the 1700 block of Provincial Road, spotted a new Cadillac vehicle being driven out of the compound.  He notified police and  about twenty minutes later, officers on patrol spotted the vehicle and two occupants on Tecumseh Road near McKay.

Officers followed the vehicle to College Avenue when it sped up and led police on a pursuit down Wellington Avenue.  The stolen vehicle failed to negotiate a turn on Wellington at Montrose, striking a stop sign and then colliding into a residence in the 1200 block of Wellington.  The passenger fled the area on foot, while the driver remained in the vehicle and was arrested.  He suffered non life threatening injuries from the collision and was transported to Hotel Dieu Hospital for treatment.

The 2004 Cadillac CTS, had extensive front end damage, while the residence suffered damage to the foundation.  Upon his release from hospital,  a 23 year old Windsor man is facing charges of Theft and Possession of Stolen Property, Dangerous Driving, and Flight From Police.  He also has an outstanding arrest warrant for Failing To Appear in court on a Fraud related charge.
