COMMUNITY TAG-OUT PROGRAM: May 25-29, 2015
This year, The Windsor Police Community Service Unit along with local students from Westview Freedom Academy, in partnership with Our West End, will be hosting a 'Tag-Out' Mural project at Aaron's Furniture - 2275 Tecumseh Rd W. from May 25-29th.
The program involves Windsor Police Officers, local high school students and "Our West End" volunteers coming together to clean up graffiti and replace it with an ecofriendly mural in a highly visible west end location. This project will highlight the artistic talents of our local youth and help to create a positive and beautiful mural to help prevent future graffiti in our west end community.
Under the supervision of Ms. Emily Carruthers - Art Dept. Head for Westview Freedom Academy, Our West End program coordinator Tamara Murray and local Windsor Police Community Services Officers, students will design and apply this mural as part of their school art curriculum.
Our hope is bring awareness to our local youth on the negative consequences of graffiti and help empower them to make positive choices and invest in their community.
Upon completion of the mural project, Friday May 29th, we invite members of the community and media to join us at 12PM to celebrate the unveiling of this community mural!
