Property and Evidence Retention Unit

The Property Room consists of two fulltime civilian members who are responsible for maintaining complete records of the seizing, finding, retaining, storing, returning, disposing of or destruction of all property coming into the possession  of the Service.  All property is properly tagged, bagged or packaged and logged into the property system.

Property may be sold at auction, which is generally held once a year.  Total sales from the 2012 auction was $15,565.75.  Money raised from the auction is forwarded to the Police Services Board, which uses the cash for operating expenses and to offer rewards for information about crimes that leads to the arrest and conviction of criminals.
